THE MURLOCS *SOLD OUT*
with Teeth & Tongue, The Frowning Clouds, D.D Dumbo
The Murlocs are hitting the road on an east coast tour in support of their new album 'Loopholes'. The Murlocs are five dudes from Victoria’s surf coast with roots firmly placed in their own blown-out, distorted brand of soulful RnB. Formed in early 2011 by harp player Ambrose Kenny-Smith, these kids (all aged between 20 – 23) have slowly grown to be one of the most exciting blues boogy bands in the country. Their up-tempo snare cracks, noisy doom guitar and vocal screech has been lauded by acclaimed international artists including The Black Angels, Gary Clarke Jr and Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks -who all hand picked the boys to open for their shows in 2012. The band first gained national attention in 2012 with their acclaimed “Tee Pee EP”. The EP scored heavy rotation on Triple J and helped them go onto play Meredith Music Festival, Harvest Presents and Dig It Up festival. They then went on to open for almost everyone including The Oh Sees, Steven Malkmus + the Jicks, Earthless, Gary Clarke Jr, The Black Angels & Wavves. All the while gaining a devoted local following which saw them sell-out their EP launch at the Tote in late 2012. In May 2013 The Murlocs released “Rattle The Chain” the first single off of their debut record. The track was recorded with Paul Maybury at “A Secret Location Sound Recorders” in Fairfield and recounts Ambrose’ personal realisation of third world poverty blues. Now in April 2014 touring the East Coast, The Murlocs bring their new album show to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
